Urban Duck

female mallard duck at Presqu'isle on the Ottawa River near Point Alexander

Usually when we encounter ducks when out paddling, they are airborne and quacking their fool heads off if we dare approach within several hundred meters of them. Consequently, we were somewhat taken aback when accosted by this female mallard who was obviously looking for handouts. We assume she must have grown up in Toronto or something. Hubby, however, was a conservative country duck who stood his distance and expressed his vocal displeasure at his mate's wanton behaviour.

May be one of the ducks from Ryan's campsite

Hi Tim. Thanks for dropping by. Sounds like a pretty reasonable theory. Although I didn't say, we were directly across the river at Presqu'isle.
