The View from Point Alexander

I hope you're not getting bored with my various renditions of pitcher plants. (For my previous attempts, try the "related" link below.) Anyways, I couldn't resist these as they are the nicest pitcher plant flowers that I can remember ever having encountered. (On the other hand, the pure green pitchers are less showy).

These plants are growing at the bottom of the Brent Crater, the site of an ancient (450 million years ago) meteorite impact. While small compared to the meteorite that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, the energy released is estimated to have been 250 megatons. In comparison, the largest thermonuclear device ever detonated by man was about 60 megatons.
